Pieter Dhoore

Pieter Dhoore was born in 1983 in Gent, Belgium. He has studied piano consecutively with Alfonso Medinilla, Katrijn Friant, Filip Martens, Sabine Haenebalcke and finally with Boyan Vodenitcharov at the Brussels Conservatory, where he obtained his master and pedagogical diploma.

Pieter performs both as a soloist and in chamber music in various formations, such as the Mahler Piano Duo with pianist Laurent Beeckmans – in which the focus is on creating and performing arrangements of orchestral works on one and two pianos, including self-made virtuoso arrangements of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Richard Strauss’ Eine Alpensinfonie. He also performs in duet with recorder player Jan Van Hoecke – to whom a number of composers dedicated compositions, with soprano Jolien De Gendt, with violinists Ann Vancoillie and Stefaan De Rycke, with cellist Seraphine Stragier and recently in piano trio with Ilia and Cesar Laporev.

As a soloist with orchestra he performed the 3rd piano concerto by Sergey Prokofiev. Pieter contributed on various CD recordings, including two cd albums with works by Belgian composers Luc Brewaeys and Janpieter Biesemans and an album entitled Les Ballets Russes with the Mahler Piano Duo. The latter duo was recently invited to perform live music by Erik Satie for Radio Klara. Pieter loves to combine works by known and lesser-known composers in his programs, in which he tries to bring on a central theme.

Pieter is currently teaching, with great enthusiasm, at the Music Academy in Lede and at Muziekschool Ars Musica, both in Belgium.
